Our August 2013 vacation to Pisgah Inn in North Carolina

8/24 - Left home and stopped by for lunch with Crystal and Sandy at a sushi restaurant for lunch. Sandy had a stuffy nose and put wasabi on the roof of her mouth to help clear out her sinuses. We were amazed she was not blow away by the spice as she eat multiple small pieces and took more home with her to help her sinuses. After our visit and lunch we headed to a Motel 6 in Knoxville, Tennessee to spend the night before heading on. We were outside looking at the Planters peanut truck and there was a scam going on outside the hotel as a man pulled up in a car saying his girlfriend drove off with his billfold and he needed money to get gas. We sent him on his way and watched him try for money with others as we informed the hotel and they confirmed it had happened before and went out to try and move him on. The next morning we were off to Pisgah Inn in NC to vacation with our good friends Dwight, Jan and Justin in the mountains.
The Pisgah Inn, which is in Waynesville, NC ( Pisgah Inn , phone 828-235-8228) is authorized to provide services on the Blue Ridge Parkway under a concessions contract with the National Park Service. The Inn is at an elevation of 5,000 feet and the views from your room and porch are great! The room rate is about $125 per night.
8/25 - We went into Brevard and stopped by lunch at Cielto Lindo for Lynn's Chili Rellenos and some tacos and amber beer. Walked around Brevard a bit before heading up to the inn to check in and catch up with friends.
8/26 - Trails
8/27 - Lynn and I headed to the Biltmore Estate in Ashville to tour the grounds and house.
8/28 - Trails
8/29 - Trails and D. D. Bullwinkles and Rocky's soda shop... where D loves his chocolate shakes. Also bought a rocker for our porch.
8/30 - Had breakfast with Dwight and Jan before heading down the mountain for our journey back home. Left the Inn about 8:45 a.m. for a beautiful, sun filled, tree lined drive. Got home around 11 p.m. due to around three hours of traffic jams.
